My road trip to Kingston then Ottawa.
I left at about 2 am. I had to rest a bit as I was tired from working the night before and not sleeping too well that day. I made this sign to show while I was resting!!
The Graduation for the Sea Cadet Summer Training was 10 am. I made it to Kingston in plenty of time still allowing for a couple rests/bathroom breaks as well a quick breakfast.
The Graduation was good. Marissa had been at HMCS Ontario all summer working. She was the Chief of the General Training Department.
The band played "Time Warp." That was excellent!!
The March Past:
It was a hot day. Lots of kids fell out but one really hurt herself when she landed. The ambulance had to be called.
I camped for the night. This is my camp site and my tent. It was so windy, I had trouble putting up the little tent.
The next morning, Marissa was ready to leave HMCS Ontario. This was her last summer as a cadet as kids age out on their 19 birthday.
HMCS Ontario is held on the grounds of the Royal Military College so we got a shot!
Then it was on to Ottawa, which didn't take too long. Marissa slept the 2 hours. Tired of camping, I decided that we needed a hotel room so this is the one we got. Not bad at all.
We went out for a nice dinner. Then this is the view from the balcony. Marissa was asleep by about 4 pm!!
The next morning, we were off to the University campus for the first year orientation. It was an all-day thing, which cost 35 dollars each so it was really just a money maker but Marissa learned a few things, got her campus card and her bus pass. At least they fed us lunch!!
We stopped at Ikea, then headed home and arrived before 1 am. Marissa slept the whole way home, went to bed and then didn't get up until about 4 pm. I guess they worked her hard over the summer.
So Aug 31, we have to drive back to Ottawa with her stuff to settle her into residence.
